2024 Louis Vuitton America's Cup:
Round Robin Results and Standings

LVC Results: Final | Semi-Finals | Rounds Robin

The opening stage of the 2024 Louis Vuitton Cup is a Double Round Robin between all teams. Each team races each other twice. The top four challenger candidates advance to the Semi-Finals, the lowest placed challenger candidate is eliminated.  The Defender races in the Double Round Robin, but only the races between two Challenger Candidates are counted in the selection process (table below at left).  The version of results that include races against the Defender (table below at right) has no effect. Scroll down for more details including how any ties between the challengers will be decided.

Scoring:
A team earns one point for a win in either round.   The top four out of five challengers after the two Rounds Robin advance to the Louis Vuitton Cup Semi-Finals. The lowest finishing challenger is eliminated. See Event Format

All challenger vs. challenger races in each Round Robin needs to be completed in order for the round to be scored in the challenger selection.  If for whatever reason the second Round Robin was not completed, then the entire second round would not be considered in the selection results.

The defender is racing in the Round Robin of the Challenger Selection Series, too. This is without precedent.  Only races between two challengers will be scored for the challenger selection process, including in case of tie-breaks. The defender will meet the Louis Vuitton Cup-winning challenger to race in the America's Cup match.  While the defender did participate in preliminary racing in 2021, it was not during the selection process.

Tie-breaks:
If there is a tie in points that affects the LVC Semi-Finals, then the tie will be broken by a sail-off race between the tied teams, if possible.  Ties will be broken only to decide the first place challenger (who chooses from 3rd or 4th place as their Semi-Final opponent) or the 4th and 5th place challengers (with 5th place being eliminated from the event and 4th advancing to the Semi-Finals.  In case of a three- or four-way tie, a sequence of sail-off races will be sailed, if possible.  If the sail-off races are not possible, then the tie-break system specified in the Racing Rules of Sailing for the America's Cup (RRSAC) Rule 102 will be used.

Notes:
RR1:
Race 3: Penalty: USA was OCS at the start.
Race 6: DNS: NZL did not start, due to damage to their boat the previous day. To win the points, GBR needed to start in the race.
Race 8: FRA retired before the start, due to techical problems. NZL started and the race was called.
Race 10: FRA trailed USA by a long distance at the finish. If the trailing competitor does not finish within 5 minutes of the winner, the Race Director stops the race.
RR2:
Race 17: NZL was DSQ, after sailing outside the course boundary.

Schedule Changes:
RR1, Day 2: After Race 6, racing was abandoned for the day due to light wind. Six races are set for Saturday, Aug 31, with two of them involving NZL, whose boat is damaged and not expected to sail. Opponents need to start the race to receive points in those races.

RR1, Day 3: Races 7-12 were the revised Saturday schedule. 5 of 6 races were completed. With wind conditions delaying some starts in Race 7-11, Race 12 was announced as moved to Sunday.

RR2, Day 1: Races 1-4 were set for Tuesday, with Race 1 a reschedule from Sunday.

RR2, Day 1, revised: Races 1-2 out of the four planned were sailed on Tuesday, while the second two races were moved to Wednesday, after lightning on the course prompted racing to be postponed for the day. Races 3-6 were set for Wednesday, and three races each for Saturday and Sunday.

RR2, Day 2: Races set for Wednesday were moved to Thursday due to weather.
