America's Cup World Series Venice: Race Areas



Approximate boundaries during racing.  Courses are intended to be set within these limits. The Sunday May 13 City of Venice race will begin in Area 1 and proceed to Area 2, roughly following the dark blue line above and finishing in front of piazza San Marco. Image: NOAA/NGA

Approximate Race Area for ACWS Venice, Italy.

Courses:
Course 1 is the "Outside Course" in open water along Lido Island.  Course 2 is inside the Venice lagoon, in the Bacino San Marco.  Course selection is according to the Venice ACWS schedule.

The Principal Race Officer (PRO) will set the marks for the day's course depending on wind conditions and other factors.  Best viewing locations will vary with the race courses and wind directions.

On the Water:
The race area will be patrolled to keep non-privileged traffic from interfering with the racing.
